The article comments on The Nelson Gallery of Art and Atkins Museum located in Kansas City. Benefactor William Rockhill Nelson founded the museum. It is said to be a spacious, well-designed building in a Neo-Greek style. With the exception of Cleveland, it is the newest and most up-to-date museum of the region, opened to the public, while still unfinished, in 1933 and completed in 1949. Unlike the City Museum of Saint Louis, it has no municipal dependence. Moreover, its position as one of the finest art museums in the U.S. derives entirely from the generosity and foresight of private individuals.
