The article presents information on the economic condition of Austria. Though Austria occupies a key position in the U.S. strategic plans and more than a billion dollars in E R P funds has already been channeled into the country, an average Austrian however feels that his economic position is as precarious as it was before. A report prepared by the Economics Division of the Office of the High Commissioner for Austria emphasizes how slight a dent American aid has made on Austria's basic economic problems. And it suggests no way to utilize that aid to bring about the economic and political reforms that are necessary if the Austrian people are ever to enjoy a decent standard of living.
