This article focuses on American poetry and the quality of poets and poetry of modern times. Two anthologies on American poetry and poets is being discussed. Some of the authors were infuriated when their names were dropped from the first anthology published which was named as "The New Poets of England and America." Therefore, in 1960, another anthology on similar lines was published which was named as "The New American Poetry." However, the latest anthology published excluded names that were there in the first anthology. It is opined that the quality of poets and poetry today is declining. It is hoped that certain works from future poets will emerge which will be full of enthusiasm, imagination, vital rhythm and will also have an original form.
