Nobody likes to pay taxes. In a way, this is curious, because most of the people want, many of them enjoy, and a few of them would discard the things that the tax dollar buys. The reason for this schizophrenic attitude about the public purse is readily apparent. Generally speaking, people have little or no choice about paying taxes, while they at least have an opinion to say no to any simple expenditure for a private purpose. People have little or no evidence that the present tax structure in the United States is an impediment to economic growth.
