This article presents information on the Playhouse in the Park Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio. The theater in Cincinnati, opened its new Robert S. Marx Theatre on July 18, 1968 with a whiz-bang production of "Camino Real," by Tennessee Williams. But the Cincinnati company has come of age with a difference. The theater began its career in 1960 when a Victorian shelter house in Eden Park, on top of a hill overlooking downtown Cincinnati was turned into a pleasant little thrust-stage theatre. The Marx Theatre has been built not somewhere in urban renewal land but in the park right next to the old one, which remains in use for new plays and other special events.
