This article focuses on the new politics of Chicago. Under the twinkling chandeliers, speakers marched across the richly carpeted floor to denounce the materialistic corruption of liberalism and demand a radical, revolutionary, irreversible change in the decision making process of society. Whether new politics or real politics, the affair was a great deal more significant than a mere happening. This band of disparate liberals, radical community organizers, had come to Chicago to agree on a strategy to defeat the U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson and end the war in Vietnam. Their announced goal was to redistribute power in society.
