Mailer and Amis: The New Conservatism

The article presents the author's views on English writers, Kingsley Amis and Norman Mailer. According to the author's views both Amis and Mailer are then conservatives of the same kind, and this is interesting, because the left of Center bias of our intellectual culture is getting so pronounced these days that everyone except extremists is looking anxiously for some, counterbalance on the Right. Amis and Mailer are conservatives primarily in that they are anti-liberal, but to say this is not to dismiss them. That left of Center bias operates to make every alternative ideology, at first, only a reaction against liberalism.
