This article presents information on the art in Chicago, Illnois. The question of nationalism or localism in art recedes almost in direct proportion to the maturity of that art. To be merely a European or American artist is intrinsically not to be very much, for the artist who fails to over- come his initial environment falls short of real identity. In considering art in Chicago, there- fore, this article defines the flavor, and ultimately the power that might have been contributed by the area and further, to discover if art there is ceasing, or has ceased, to be only indigenous.
