In Appleton, Wisconsin, Governor George Wallace of Alabama gets a standing ovation from the local Rotarians, and segregationists forecast as many as 100,000 votes for him in. Amidst much fanfare the U.S. Army airlifted thousands of soldiers to Europe' in a demonstration of deathless loyalty to West German ally. It was also a full-dress parade of the U.S. infantry and supporting branches at the expense of the U.S. Air Force, which had - the humble task of providing the transportation.
