This article presents information on two plays. Joe Orton's two one-act plays collectively titled "Crimes of Passion," indicate that dramatists often fore- shadow their own destinies in their writing. in "The Ruffian on the Stair," the first of the two one-acters, something like a note of tenderness is introduced. But it is muffled either by technical deficiency in the plotting of the play or by some ambiguity of purpose. In "A Scent of Flowers," James Saunders writes educated prose and feeble drama.
