The article comments on how the U.S. government should bring an end to the Vietnamese Conflict. Considering the true state of affairs, it is altogether grotesque that President Richard Nixon, not committed to old policies, should contend in 1969 that the essential objective the war is the self-determination of the South Vietnamese people and should go on to define self-determination as the repressive government of Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu. Surely Mr. Nixon must know that the most responsible and patriotic non-Communist political leaders in South Vietnam are jailed, hiding in the jungles or living in exile.
