The article presents information on the U.S. controversy related to the antiballistic missile System. Much of the opposition to the Anti-Ballistic Missile System (ABM) is based on the evidence that it probably won't work, is unnecessary, will intensify the arms race, and will divert resources from areas of higher national priority. Unless disproved, these are good reasons for not spending $6 billion or $7 billion of public money. Although it has great implications for the international arms race, the ABM is only one Army weapons system program. Unless the defense budget is cut substantially, the anti-ABM efforts and other attempts to scrutinize military programs might eventually be regarded as futile.
