The Cuban President Fidel Castro's speech on March 26, 1962, delivered before a nation-wide television audience, was one of the most important political events of the Cuban revolution. This speech did not mean, nor have the Revolutionary Government actions since the speech indicated, that the Fidelistas and the Communists have split. Until Castro's speech, the Communist organization, despite Communist claims to the contrary, remained more or less intact. Organizational loyalties, lines of communication, directives emanating from officials of the party and the characteristic discipline of party members remained as before.
