This article presents information on a pre-election survey in Michigan on those contests which are of more than local interest and which are likely to affect national policy either immediately or in 1964. Political candidate George Romney's unorthodox campaign methods and maverick personality have given Michigan's gubernatorial campaign a fresh excitement and is leaving an imprint on this state's politics that will survive the outcome of November race. Many signs point to the conclusion that the big upset of the race for governor would be the re-election of the incumbent, Governor John B. Swainson.
