This article describes lectures on medical education by U.S. Physician Lester Evans. These article relate to problems of medical education with particular reference to the preparation of doctors for their social role. Since he has aimed at a university audience and deliberately focused narrowly on the interaction of university education and preparation for medicine, Evans cannot be too severely criticized for what he has omitted from consideration. In one of these lectures Evans points out that methods of selecting students, emphasis in curriculum content, and organization of medical education are completely inadequate to prepare the physician for the role he is to play in the community.
