This article focuses on two plays "Luv," by Murray Shisgall, and "Poor Bitos," by Shirley Butler. The kids in the play by Shisgall appear to be stereotypes of everyday life. The properties of love as a cure for every discomfort from chilblains and heartburn to metaphysical anguish are thoroughly travestied. The peculiarly American style employed is related to clowning in the manner of a sophisticated Sid Caesar. The play by Butler is not only extremely skillful in construction and writing, it is, as plays go nowadays, thoroughly adult. It is worth support and attack.
