This article presents the life history of Soviet sculptor Ernst Neizvestny. He was born in 1926. On his official papers it says 1925. This is because he lied about his age when he applied to join the army in the Second World War. His father is a successful doctor and his mother is a scientist and writer. They live in the Ural Mountains, Soviet Union where Ernst was brought up as a child. It was an area where there were many exiles both of the anti-Communist and Communist intelligentsia. He grew up in an atmosphere of intellectual tension.
