The article provides information on two dance productions, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by George Balanchine, performed at the State Theater, and "Romeo and Juliet," by Kenneth MacMillan, performed at the Metropolitan Opera House, both in New York City. For those who saw them, it was something of a trip in a time machine. Both ballets are products of the 1960s. However, Romeo looks much better as it possessed the love theme of the decade, also represented in the movie "West Side Story," in Franco Zeffirelli's production of Shakespeare's play at the London Old Vic, in his film and in 101 television shows about the star-crossed kids of hawks and doves.
