Nicaragua is a land of myths, where reality does not match perception. U.S. President Ronald Reagan himself recently proved the point in his March 16 speech on television. Carried along on the rising tide of bipartisan consensus that Sandinistas are totalitarian and undemocratic, Congress will shortly approve millions of dollars for President Reagan's bloodthirsty freedom fighters. The Coordinadora has never made a serious effort to at tract broad, popular backing for its demands. It has never organized a consistent program of political meetings even indoor ones, which are legal.
