Comments on the proposals put forward by the Democratic presidential candidates on how the United States should proceed in its military occupation of Iraq. Suggestion by Howard Dean that troops from Arabic-speaking nations should be brought in as part of an international effort; Suggestion by John Kerry that the United Nations authorize a multinational force under U.S. command; Observation by Carol Moseley Braun that the UN may be unwilling to go into Iraq because it is too dangerous; Suggestions by Joe Lieberman and Wesley Clark that more troops may be required; Clark's plan to assign military responsibilities to NATO; Call by Dennis Kucinich for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq; Observation that the increase in violence in Iraq makes their proposals less feasible.
