Reports on the decision of Fred Iklé, Under Secretary at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), to help the chief domestic policy adviser at the White House, Martin Anderson, reverse the staunch support of the DOD for the Law of the Sea Treaty. Provisions made under the treaty; Reasons cited by Anderson for seeking the reversal; Reservations outlined by Iklé at an interagency committee meeting; Other agencies opposing the treaty; Objections raised by the State Department to the treaty.
