U.S. President Ronald Reagan appointees to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) are destroying the protections won through decades of trade union effort. There are five people on the board at any given time, but because of resignations, the President has appointed six since coming to office. The chair, Donald Dotson, was an NLRB staff attorney during the period of U.S. President Richard Nixon. Wilford Johansen was appointed to the NLRB staff under U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1959 and promoted to the board by Reagan. Marshall Babson, one of two Democrats on the board, once spent two years with an infamous San Francisco unionbusting firm, Littler Mendelson Fastiff Tichy & Mathiason.
