The Real Aim Is Ideological

This article focuses on the goal of Reed Irvine, the founder of the organization Accuracy in Media (AIM). AIM is not the kind of man who adjusts easily to changing tastes. The article suggests that AIM will never be the quasi-public Office of Censorship, it has been trying to become. Irvine's methods of operation cut across the grain of the communications business in the U.S. in two ways. First, he is predictable and boring-exactly the kind of person that reporters and television producers generally try to avoid. Second, he is a fierce ideological warrior, for whom political controversy is part of a desperate struggle of good against evil.
