The article focuses on civil rights in the U.S. with reference to the Bill of Rights. Civil liberties and civil rights are not very popular in the country. Country's Attorney General called the American Civil Liberties Union a criminals' lobby. The people who care about the Bill of Rights are a distinct minority. Other people think that the people who favor the Bill of Rights are solemn, self-righteous, elitist and condescending. The author says that they should campaign for the Bill of Rights. They should show the people how marvelous it is. There is a need to find means of persuasion that will reach and touch masses of people as enemies of rights are already doing.
