The article focuses on the book "The Good Terrorist," by Doris Lessing. For about ten years now the ongoing Marxist left in Britain has been dogged by a species of ideological flotsam, in part its own detritus-young, generally unemployed middle class-drifting under the colors of the left in quest of politics as drama, preferably violent drama. Impervious to the old message of the left and to its long-term objectives, they habitually form mushroom organizations which come up in a night and perish in a night, momentarily allying themselves with whatever issue or slogan comes to hand.
