The article discusses the economic condition of Israel during 1977 to 1984. Israel is a small country with limited resources, living in a state of strategic insecurity, highly dependent on friendly nations. Since Israel destroyed its neighbors' armies in 1967, its defense expenditure has more than doubled. Military spending is currently about 5 billion $ a year. Half of it, however, is covered by U.S. aid. Israel owes most of its foreign debt to the U.S. treasury. It suffered, from a national psychopathology, a massive delusion of grandeur.
