The article presents information on various films. There are six showing of "Memories of underdevelopment," the classic chronicle of bourgeois alienation in revolutionary Cuba, over two days of a warm March weekend at the Film Forum, the art-and-politics movie house in Lower Manhattan. The persistence of Memories in the consciousness of a political generation is like the permanence of a sacred text in the culture of a sect. In the newest film, "Up to a Certain Point," the subject is machismo, conceived dialectically as both the sensibility and the system that imposes the Hispanic male ego on Cuban society.
