Venezuela's Recall

The article focuses on the plan for a recall referendum on the presidency of Hugo Chávez of Venezuela. There is a plan to hold a recall referendum to remove Chávez from office. Chávez has been accused by U.S. and Venezuelan media as a dictator and antidemocratic leader. However, that may not happen. There is little chance that the president will be removed from his post because the opposition is unlikely to muster the votes that would be needed for a recall. The opposition has tried to remove Chávez several times by extralegal efforts such as short-lived military coup and oil strike and business lockout.
