This article briefly discusses various current socio-political issues and developments across the world. It first discusses the Russian economy from a comparative historical perspective and in relation to the U.S. economy. It further explores the matter of the U.S. attack on Iraq from demographic as well as political perspectives. Looking at the record, it is supposed true that U.S. President George Bush's government would have been happy to have Iraq bully Kuwait to the extent of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's exerting control over the Rumailah oilfield and the islands of Bubiyan and Warbah, sufficiently frightening Kuwait into stopping its overproduction of oil, thus raising the price. With the slogan "U.S. Out of the Gulf" certain left groups here are threatening to get themselves into a tricky position about Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait and about the collective international response.
