My Twentieth Century, written and directed by Ildiko Enyedi-- is a giddy, exhilarating, beautiful and incurably Hungarian account of the wondrous future, which was supposed to begin at 12:01 A.M. on January 1, 1901, but never quite arrived. In his study of Vincente Minnelli--a book that surely belongs in every home--Stephen Harvey details how the director of Lust for Life drove himself, John Houseman and half of M-G-M crazy trying to replicate Vincent van Gogh's paintings and the settings in which they were made.
